Asymmetric lateral ridge. Erratic lateral tufts. Size 21.7 mm x 24.7 mm.
Dutch field researcher S. Suverkropp discovered this occlupanopsid on a kitchen countertop in Wageningen. While potentially considered to be part of the Archignathaceae, it has a curious rounded depression in the back of its oral groove that is causing consternation among the HORG Board of Taxonomy. Could this be a haplognath-mimic whose paper-pressed dential thorn had become worn off? Or is it some new family entirely? The pithy and erodible nature of chartoniphytous occlupanopsids make morphometrics a challenging task. It is hoped further specimens can be discovered.
