Chloronyx pinicola Are perennial pseudocclupanids that are observed primarily in winter. Its host organism is quite unique: Plastic evergreen trees with pre-installed holiday lights. Its oral groove almost entirely fills the space of its body. The integument can be of smooth or rumpled plastic. Only known species so far collected of order Chimochaeridae (“joy of winter”). First specimen collected in 2021 by field researcher P. Hart in Olathe, KS. Further specimens were sent in from Lincoln, NE by researcher J. Fowler.
