Family
Archignathidae
“First Tooth”

Archignathidae is distinguished by a lack of dentition in the oral groove. They are commonly found in bulk food stores in unbagged clusters. Considered by many synthetic taxonomists to be the most basal of occlupanids, possibly due to their retention of an uncomplicated oral groove. Plus there is a heck of a lot of them. There is talk about breaking out some subfamilies into their own taxon, but for now it safely remains the idle fancy of overexcited lab interns.
