Discovered by amateur occlupanologist L. Schuhart (FORC) on twinned pack of Italian bread in a Maryland Costco. As if the discovery of Psammofelis vexativus was not controversial enough, this distinctive occlupanid has been subjected to an intense morphological scrutiny by several scholars. While it possesses a clearly flattened back to its oral grove, the subtlety of its interior shape leads some to consider it even more likely to be an Archignathid. To help bring clarity to this conundrum, the HORG Board of Taxonomy has issued this helpful calculation to determine whether a species merits this taxon: “If the amount of time spent peering through a microscope and making comparative pencil-tracings of other occlupanids exceeds 7 days, and it is still unclear, then it is probably a Planotectid; just angled enough to make the occlupanologist brush up on differential geometry, but smooth enough to make the occlupanologist immediately doubt their own conclusions.”
